U.S. Shipment Has Arrived!

Hi Everyone,
It's only been a week since our last update, but a lot has happened over the last 7 days. Let's start with some good news. Since we started shipping Jan 15th, over 6000 rewards have shipped from the Hong Kong fulfillment center.
U.S. Shipment Has Arrived
Yesterday the first bulk shipment of watches and straps was checked in at our warehouse in California. We can now start shipping rewards with add-ons like metal straps, travel cases, etc. You will receive an email with your tracking information once your reward ships. Because the U.S. orders have add-ons, we won't be able to ship as quickly as the single watch rewards, but we still estimate around 300 orders shipping out each business day.
Production
When we started the Kickstarter campaign, we thought we'd only be producing 1000 watches which is why we set an estimated delivery window of late December to early January. We're proud that we were so close to achieving that estimate. We've been able to produce 12 times our originally estimated number of watches and close to 60% of the total watches needed to fulfill all backer rewards. We understand how excited and anxious everyone is to receive your reward. We wanted to provide you with a detailed production breakdown for each model. Click on the production charts below for a larger view.
For the quartz models, we have a 61% completion rate. The only models that haven't had any units ship are the Apollo 11 and Saturn V. You can see some SKUs have a higher completion percentage that others.
Now for the unfortunate situation that we could have never predicted.
Coronavirus
The Chinese government has confirmed 7,700 cases of the mysterious virus, quarantined 35 million people, and closed transportation across a large swath of the country to contain the spread. They extended the CNY holiday break to Monday Feb 3 for mainland China, with some variation from city to city. As of today, all enterprises in Guangdong Province, Zhejiang Province, Chongqing and Shanghai City have been asked to suspend business until midnight on Feb 9. In Hong Kong and Taiwan, the Lunar New Year Holiday has also been extended until Feb 3.
We've had some questions about coronavirus contamination in shipments leaving the HK warehouse. We’re horologists, not epidemiologists so we cannot advise you about public health with any authority. The Center for Disease Control (for U.S. customers) has said the following (read more):
"In general, because of poor survivability of these coronaviruses on surfaces, there is likely very low risk of spread from products or packaging that are shipped over a period of days or weeks at ambient temperatures. Coronaviruses are generally thought to be spread most often by respiratory droplets. Currently there is no evidence to support transmission of 2019-nCoV associated with imported goods and there have not been any cases of 2019-nCoV in the United States associated with imported goods."
If you are concerned about a virus or public health and safety, we would recommend contacting the Center for Disease Control or the equivalent government health and safety agency for your area for advice or information.
Fulfillment
How will this affect your shipment?
1. It's too early to know the exact impact it will have on deliveries because the government required businesses to stay closed at least until Feb 3 as stated above. We did receive a WhatsApp message from our warehouse lead and the HK warehouse is being proactive in protecting their employees from the coronavirus which means shipping from HK will be delayed. We totally support this and wouldn't want to risk someone's life just to ship a watch. We hope to have a more accurate timeline in two weeks once they're able to return to work.
2. Our assembly team in Shenzhen won't be able to begin watch assembly until Feb 10th, at the earliest, because of the quarantine imposed by the Chinese government. We are hopeful that the quarantine is lifted by the 10th as a longer quarantine would lead to additional delays on the remaining 40% of watches. We are also still producing the blue PVD metal straps, additional Trappist-1 leather straps, and the straps with deployant clasps. As soon as we have more information about the assembly team, we will post an update.

Hi Everyone,
Thank you all for your patience throughout the campaign and during production. We've been working long days and nights since we started shipping out the first rewards last week. We're averaging between 300-400 packages a day. We ask that you continue to be patient during the fulfillment process. We receive daily emails and Kickstarter messages/comments asking "Has my reward shipped?". With nearly 18,000 rewards it could take up to seven weeks to get through all of them if we average 400 orders a day. We're hoping that providing this fulfillment update and timeline might reduce the daily number of messages so we can focus on shipping. We'd rather use the time it takes to respond to these daily messages and focus it on getting your rewards picked, packed, and shipped.
To make fulfillment as efficient as possible, we started with the simplest rewards first. One watch or one watch and one NATO strap. As we continue to the more complex multiple item rewards with add-ons, that average number of daily shipments will decrease a bit. We are shipping the simplest rewards from Hong Kong and multipack rewards from the U.S.. We have another shipment of watches, stainless steel bracelets, and NATO straps on their way to our U.S. warehouse so we can start shipping orders with add-ons. This shipment should be delivered by the end of this month barring any customs clearance issues which we don't foresee.
You will receive an email once your shipping label has been created. Please allow 24-72 hours for us to pick, pack, and ship your reward after receipt of this email.
We've been able to produce 60% of the total rewards so far. Some SKUs have nearly 80-90% of the watches assembled, while others are below 40%. Of the 29 SKUs, the only models that won't have any units shipping prior to Chinese New Year are the Apollo 11 quartz, Saturn V quartz, and Neutron Star Automatic. Please note the cerakote cases are taking a lot longer than anticipated and we've had to reject and redo some case components because they didn't meet our standards. We want you to know we're doing everything we can to get these watches to you as soon as humanly possible.

Another couple thousand watches of other colorways have arrived to our warehouse today and are being packaged/processed to ship out over the next few weeks. With over 10,000 watches at our warehouse we should have enough to keep us busy shipping watches out over Chinese New Year, and as soon as the factories return from holiday we will be able to fulfill any remaining orders. As watches get shipped out we will provide emails with tracking numbers. In previous campaigns we are usually able to ship out most orders within 1-2 weeks, so please keep in mind that for this campaign it may take a few weeks to fulfill +20,000 watches. Addresses are now locked so we can prepare orders for final processing/shipment.
If you have multiple watches or add-ons they will all get shipped together as one order once we have all the items available.

Hi Everyone,
Happy Holidays! As a thank you for all of your support, we've added a small gift to everyone's order. These UV keychain lights will allow you to charge up the superluminova stars, hands, and minute indices wherever you go.
Here's an example of charging the lume on a watch straight out of the box that hasn't seen light yet. The sun will charge it just as well, but the UV light is a fun way to give it an extra boost.
Production is on schedule to be completed end of December. We have thousands of watches ready to go, and we are just waiting for the leather straps to be completed. This was an unusually large order for Horween, and we just received all the raw leather Monday. We should have all the straps done by December 25th. Afterwards all 20,000+ watches will go through final QC/packaging and should start shipping by January 15th. We will send another update as soon as we're ready to start shipping.
Here's a quick video of what's been in the works. The finishes look great, and we can't wait for you to see these in person!
